Despite the pandemic, shoppers are paying attention to sustainability in household staples by buying more products labeled sustainable. Figures estimated by CSB Senior Scholar, Randi Kronthal-Sacco, show that environmentally-friendly items make up 16.8% of all in store purchases and amount to more than $131 billion.
As more consumers take initiative in buying planet-friendly goods, the gap between intention and action is shrinking. Brands and retailers risk being left behind if they do not prioritize sustainability.
