Stern Student Deo Anant (BS '21) Reflects on Social Impact in Costa Rica Course
—
Deo Anant (BS '21) was featured in the Humans of Stern series reflecting on some of her favorite experiences as an undergraduate student at Stern concentrating in economics and sustainable business. She highligts her time taking the Social Impact Consulting in Costa Rica course with Professor Tensie Whelan and Rachel Kowal as being memorable and rewarding.
"We learned a ton from the local community and got to see firsthand why Costa Rica is a global leader in sustainability."
The unique course provides students with the chance to learn and apply their knowledge of sustainability and consulting by working on a project for a small business in Costa Rica in areas such as agricultural production, eco-tourism, and environmental education for youth.
Students are then able to travel to Costa Rica on a week long class trip to test their business hypothesis and connect with local partners while immersing themselves in Costa Rican culture and the local sustainability industry.
