Event Recap: "Community-Minded Banking" with Robert G. Wilmers
—
On Thursday, April 13, NYU Stern’s Center for Sustainable Business (CSB) welcomed Robert G. Wilmers, CEO of M&T Bank, for a discussion entitled “Community-Minded Banking.”
Wilmers opened the event with prepared remarks, speaking to the culture and values of M&T, before moving to a discussion moderated by Professor Tensie Whelan. Wilmers, who has served as CEO of the bank since 1983 and been an integral part of the organization’s 104-consecutive profitable quarters, explained that M&T is committed to diversity and inclusion at all levels.
“Adapting to change requires opening the mind to new perspectives,” said Wilmers. “We believe that diversity and inclusion leads to a richer dialogue. We know a diverse workforce makes us stronger, smarter and more well-developed.”
Following the discussion, Wilmers answered questions from the audience. You can read more about Wilmers here.
