What moment made you realize Stern was the home for you?
I had a difficult week; I felt burnt out and overwhelmed by my commitments, causing me to fall behind on schoolwork. Coincidentally, it was also a week with a marathon of assignments due in all my classes. Without me asking, I received homework support from at least one person in every class, accompanied by encouraging messages like "I hope this helps you get started!" This unexpected support was overwhelming, and it was then that I realized how much my peers cared.
What class/professor has made the deepest impression on you?
While I expect most of my classmates to choose "Leadership in Organizations" with Michael North—a choice I completely agree with—I have to highlight "Statistics" with Professor Rohit Deo and "Foundations of Finance" with Haran Segram. These two quantitative core classes are the building blocks for almost every other course you'll take at Stern. Both Professors Deo and Segram are exceptional teachers who make complex subjects more digestible for those without a background in finance or math.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Don't be afraid if your background doesn't fit the stereotypical profile of a business school student. Everyone is unique, and your "non-stereotypical" background will make you shine in ways you might not expect!
What advice would you give your first semester self?
Whenever you feel like you're missing out, remember that you're not. Take the opportunity to recharge your social battery.
What surprised you the most about Stern?
I was surprised by how actively involved students are in shaping all sorts of programming at Stern. Almost every week, there is an information session, a career panel, a case competition, a conference, or a lively party, and each of these initiatives is organized by students.
What club or organization are you most proud of being a part of?
I am most proud of being part of Stern's Technology Association, particularly the Flagship Events vertical. We worked closely together to organize the annual Tech conference at Stern, which attracted nearly 200 attendees and featured distinguished speakers from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and IBM. It's no easy feat to put together a full conference while everyone is still trying to keep up with recruiting, tests, and homework assignments. I am proud to be part of the team that successfully hosted TechCon2024.
Who makes up your chosen family at NYU Stern?
Nothing bonds you more than going through a tiresome recruiting cycle, a rigorous case competition, or a challenging group project. I'd say my chosen family consists of those with whom I've bonded through these shared difficult experiences.
How has Stern prepared you for the recruiting process?
Let's just say I had no idea what "casing" was before attending Stern. Now, you can throw any odd question at me, and I would almost make it through.
