How did you prepare for the program before you began it?

I spent a significant amount of time researching the student clubs and career resources available on campus. I already lived in NY, so I also took advantage of the opportunity to sit in on a couple of classes. The most valuable thing I did, however, was participate in pre-MBA recruiting, which allowed me to refine my recruiting interests ahead of the Fall semester.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

Connect with current MBAs! The MBA experience is student-led, so no one will be more equipped to answer your questions than the current student body.

What surprised you the most about Stern?

I was most surprised by the strength of the Stern network. Sternies are everywhere, especially in New York City. As someone making a pivot in their career, access to this kind of professional network was invaluable to me while exploring different career paths and internship opportunities.

What club or organization are you most proud of being a part of?

The Association for Hispanic and Black Business Students (AHBBS) is part affinity club and part professional development organization. We pride ourselves in supporting our members in achieving their professional goals, regardless of their industry preferences. It’s easiest to think of AHBBS as an additional layer of support on top of the more career-oriented clubs on campus like the MCA or GFA. More than anything, however, our goal is to build community and all allies are welcome!

P.S. We also throw the best parties. Stay tuned!

How would you describe the Stern community?

The Stern community is dynamic, supportive, and determined.

How has being located in the heart of NYC set you up for professional success?

Being in the heart of NYC allows you to connect in person with someone in just about every industry. Most recruiting events take place on campus or at the company's office in the city.
