Professor Rob Salomon Launches His New Book, Global Vision

At a recent book launch event at NYU Stern, Robert Salomon, Associate Professor of Management and Organizations and an expert in globalization, shared with an audience of alumni, students, and faculty why some of today’s brand-name companies like Uber, IKEA, Walmart, and even Starbucks have fallen far short of expectations for successful expansion overseas, the topic of his new book, Global Vision: How Companies Can Overcome the Pitfalls of Globalization.

Peggy Yu, Chairwoman and Co-Founder of Dangdang, joins Professor Dolly Chugh for a fireside chat with MBA students

Peggy Yu (MBA ‘92) joined a packed class of MBA1 students from Professor Dolly Chugh and Professor Nathan Pettit’s Leadership in Organizations course for a fireside chat. During the discussion, moderated by Professor Chugh, Ms. Yu shared her most important takeaways from Stern and some of the leadership insights she’s gained throughout her illustrious career.

Dean Peter Henry Visits Asia to Meet with Stern Community in Singapore, Taipei and Hong Kong

With NYU Stern alumni living all over the world, Dean Peter Henry takes the opportunity to visit with the Stern community outside of New York City whenever  he can. Recently, he connected with the Stern community in Asia, visiting Singapore, Taiwan and China. These gatherings were a chance for Dean Henry to share updates from Stern and the University, including highlights such as NYU’s new president, Andrew Hamilton, whose tenure began in January 2016, and NYU’s record number of 60,000 applications.

Record-breaking attendance at the 15th annual Alumni Holiday Celebration at The Met Museum of Art

NYU Stern alumni and guests kicked off the holiday season at the 15th annual Alumni Holiday Celebration, held at the majestic Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s event had the highest number of attendees in its 15-year history with more than 1,000 guests.

NYU Stern Alumnus and Author, Thor ​​​​Björgólfsson, Talks About His Book and Life Story

Investor and author Thor ​​​​Björgólfsson (BS ‘91), returned to NYU Stern for a book event to share the story of how he built his company, Novator, then lost much of his wealth during the financial crisis, only to regain it through grit and ingenuity. He chronicles this compelling life journey in his book “Billions to Bust and Back: How I Made, Lost and Rebuilt a Fortune.”

NYU Stern alumni and students gathered on Thursday, October 29, for a tech panel, moderated by Luke Williams, Executive Director of the W.R. Berkley Innovation Lab and Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship. The panel featured industry leaders including Stern alumnus Jeff Teper, BS ‘86, Corporate Vice President, OneDrive and SharePoint at Microsoft.

NYU Stern Alumni Return to Campus to Celebrate Reunion 2015

The NYU Stern Reunion tradition, now in its 5th year, continued as alumni returned to their alma mater for a dynamic all-day event that featured SternTalks: TED-x style faculty talks, alumni presentations, a career workshop, and a fun-filled evening at the Waldorf Astoria. This year nearly 500 undergraduate, MBA and Executive MBA alumni attended Stern reunion, which coincided with NYU Alumni and Parents Day.

Dean Henry Joins Alumni in Rome for a Special Event

Last Thursday, Dean Peter Henry was joined by NYU Prof. Giampiero  M. Gallo, Professor of Econometrics at Università di Firenze and Economic Advisor, Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri, in a conversation about the global economy and how it relates to Italy and the European Union. The event took place in Rome, Italy.
