One of the activities of the DRP is to hold periodic Symposia. In contrast to a conference, a Symposium focuses on a single topic of current interest, with the goal of fostering an interchange of ideas and information among academics, practitioners, and regulatory authorities.

Symposia are generally held on Friday afternoons to make it as easy as possible for attendees to come from the Street, and typically involve 3 or 4 speakers plus Q&A from the audience. The speakers include both academics and practitioners, and the audience typically consists of faculty and students from the Stern school and the Courant Institute, as well as a good number from "the Street."
