Mckenzie Love
Whether you never want to grow up or you're ready to embrace adulting with open arms, NYU Stern will help you explore and find your way to and through the leap from college into the working world. Our recent alumni can attest to the fact that, with your NYU Stern Undergraduate College degree and the amazing alumni network, you'll soon be well on your way down that dream career path.

The NYU Stern Class of 2016 made the transition with ready success and are here to tell the tale. (Did we mention they had a 98% placement rate within six months of graduation? NBD.) Now that they know the ropes of adulthood, we checked in to see what they’re up to and reminisce with them about their favorite memories from NYU Stern.

What from your NYU Stern experience most helped prepare you for your current job?
While I was attending NYU I held a lot of internships/outside jobs so being able to juggle everything has been the biggest help. Once you start your first role you will quickly realize finding balance is extremely vital to being successful. Things are going to come up not just at work but in your personal life and being able to find the sweet spot of where everything can mesh is so important.

Do you run into any other Stern grads around the city?
No, hahaha. I think I’m probably one of 5 people (I’m exaggerating) from my class that moved to the Midwest. Everyone stayed on the coasts. Come visit me!

What's your favorite/happiest NYU Stern memory?
My happiest NYU memory was graduation. It was the moment my friends and I could look around and see that we accomplished something great. It was so amazing to stand next to some of the people that got me through the all-nighters, late night papers, international trips and look toward the people who supported us through it all. That was the best feeling ever and being able to walk across the stage and hear my friends and family cheering me on….still the greatest moment EVER!

Give us a quick snapshot of a typical day of work at Twitter in 280 characters or less...GO:
I'm a Data Scientist at Twitter which means I help us make decisions using data. I cover our live events product and media partnerships. My typical day consists of meetings with other teams, analysis (building, validating, and visualizing metrics), and eating lots of great food!

What from your NYU Stern experience most helped prepare you for your current job?
ISP was a great class that helps us think about the decisions a company makes given its positioning in the market and a number of exogenous influences.

What's your favorite/happiest NYU Stern memory?
Hard to pick the top one, but SIV (Stern International Volunteers) in Lima, Peru, was an incredible trip.

Give us a quick snapshot of a typical day of work at your job.
There really is no "typical" day at my job. I usually work at my client's site, meaning I could be in NYC, Long Island, or New Jersey. On some days I spend most of my time in client meetings and with my team, while on others I may just be working by myself. It definitely never gets boring!

What from your NYU Stern experience most helped prepare you for your current job?
The one thing that has helped me the most at PwC is the collaborative environment that Stern fostered both inside and outside of the classroom. During my four years I had opportunities to work with people much different from myself and learned how to find common ground. I find myself using these experiences every day now in my interactions with my clients and team members.

Do you run into any other Stern grads around the city?
Luckily, most of my friends from Stern also stayed in NYC so I still get to hang out with them. It's interesting to see all the different paths we have taken after having a similar college experience!
