Today, located in the heart of Greenwich Village with a campus in Westchester, Stern is one of the nation’s premier management education schools and research centers with a broad portfolio of academic programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels. With its global partnerships and engagement in NYU’s global network university, today NYU Stern is not only in and of the city, but also in and of the world.

Not long after, Quinn enrolled at Stern and in the BPE program, making history as part of its first entering class. Now a junior, she continues to find the unique combination of ideas that the program spans to be fascinating. “It’s not just the perspective of a company and how it makes money,” she says. “It’s a broader view. It’s business. And how business effects politics—and vice versa. It’s economic structures and economic development, all with an international perspective.”

It turned out that the right path for her was a switch to a double concentration in marketing and management. Fanny aspires to one day work in the area of brand management, taking market research and applying it to communicate with consumers. “I want to do something that affects people and the way they live their lives,” she says.

However, Shaaz points out, there is some similarity between his years of elite tennis and his experience here at Stern. “In both cases,” he explains, “you’re doing the same thing—surrounding yourself with the best people so that you learn, grow, and improve your skills.”

Although he still loves to play tennis with friends, as well as soccer, Shaaz has chosen not to play team sports at NYU in order to focus fully on his studies. “Right now,” he says, “this is my priority and what I really want to excel at.”

As a senior concentrating in finance and accounting, completing a minor in politics, and also completing her M.S. in accounting, EunJu is certainly fluent in this language of business. When she graduates, she will be working for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the “big four” international accounting firms, in auditing. Last year, she completed an internship with PwC, an experience that helped lead to a full-time position.

During his time as a Stern student, Anthony spent a full year studying in China. While there, he visited Macao and other regional destinations and also did two internships, one with RTW, a consultancy, and one with C Trip, an online travel service similar to Expedia. In addition, he traveled to Latin America for an internship at Cargill that included experience in Honduras, Guatemala, and Ecuador. He also took part in a course that included a week in Chennai, India, and focused on economic development and the role of private enterprise.

Samson Feldman (BS'12)

Samson’s experience at Stern started with his immersion in the city. “I’d gone to high school in New York,” he explains, “but I lived in New Jersey and really only knew the Upper East and West Side. When I got to Stern it was my chance to have the full downtown experience, and I loved it.”

Samson says he arrived with an exhilarating sense of freedom and a desire to see and do everything. Highlights ranged from exploring to the Village and Chinatown, to discovering great—and affordable—restaurants. (Mamoun’s, a falafel spot on MacDougal St., is a favorite.)

Anisha Patel (BS'14)

Anisha began exploring her interests outside the classroom and discovered an abundance of co-curricular activities. “Clubs do such a great job of reaching out to new members, so as early as freshman year I was involved in the Student Council and the Finance Society in addition to PDS. I also joined NYU’s Civic Team, which partners with agencies throughout New York City to perform community service.”
