Becoming You is a methodology and program created by Professor Suzy Welch to help people discover their purpose in life which is found at the intersection of their values, interests, and aptitudes. The Lab teaches this work, develops curriculum and researches approaches to do this work.
Lab Programs
Teaching
Professor Suzy Welch teaches the Becoming You course at NYU Stern for both undergraduates and MBAs, guiding students through a transformative journey of self-discovery. In partnership with Becoming You Media, the Initiative also offers specialized workshops for external audiences. These workshops are designed to extend the principles of the Becoming You methodology beyond the classroom, featuring both 1-day and 3-day intensives that immerse participants in purpose-driven learning.
Research
The Initiative is dedicated to advancing research in self-awareness and self-development, with a particular emphasis on how individuals articulate their values, understand their aptitudes, and explore their interests. This research aims to deepen the understanding of personal growth and is used to develop actionable tools that can help individuals navigate their career and life decisions. By creating evidence-based methodologies, we empower people to engage more deeply with their purpose and to develop their full potential.
Training
In Summer 2025, the Initiative will launch a comprehensive training program to equip individuals with the skills to use and facilitate the Becoming You methodology. This program will include both facilitation and coaching training, with expert-led sessions that explore the core principles of the methodology. Participants will also join a growing community of practice, connecting with other Becoming You facilitators who are committed to supporting others in their journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
