What is Stern looking for in its applicants?
NYU Stern evaluates each candidate holistically across three dimensions throughout their complete application: academic profile, professional achievements and aspirations, and alignment with NYU Stern's core values. We seek students with strong intellectual ability, superior interpersonal skills, and a desire to create value for business and society. Many questions regarding specific eligibility requirements, including standardized tests, and academic transcript components of the application, can be answered by visiting the MBA Programs - Admissions page. We also encourage you to review our MBA Admissions Policies page.

What are the undergraduate degree requirements to apply to Stern?
Students entering Stern's MBA program are required to hold a four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or an equivalent degree from a foreign country (for example, for applicants who studied in India, all three-year Bachelor's degrees are sufficient to apply). A list of recommended international degrees and further details of requirements may be found on the Transcripts & Degrees section of our Admissions website.

What is the average score for the Executive Assessment?
We do not publish average Executive Assessment scores due to the short time we have been accepting the test. Please note there is no minimum Executive Assessment score needed to apply.

What if I was denied admission previously and want to reapply?
Reapplicants may submit an abbreviated application to Full-time MBA, Andre Koo Technology and Entrepreneurship MBA, or Luxury and Retail MBA if they have applied to any of these three programs in the last two application cycles, e.g. the 2023 and 2024 application cycles.

Are there any minimum test scores required to apply?
Please note there are no minimum score requirements to apply. Please view the Standardized Tests section of our admissions website for further details.

Does Stern have a preference between standardized tests?
NYU Stern accepts the GMAT, GRE, EA, MCAT, LSAT and DAT tests and does not have a preference as to which exam you choose to take. Please view the Standardized Tests section of our admissions website for further details.

Is it possible to waive the standardized test requirement?
If you feel that you are not able to prepare for or take a standardized test and are able to demonstrate academic readiness without a standardized test score, you may request a standardized test waiver for the Full-Time and Luxury and Retail MBA programs. Please review the Standardized Tests section of our admissions website for further details.

Is there a minimum amount of work experience required to apply?
Full-time work experience is not a prerequisite to apply and we review all work experience, including internships and part-time work, in our evaluation. Please note that in the Professional Information section of your application you should only add months of full-time, post-college work experience. Internships, part-time work and other experience may be included on your resume and work history.

What is the total cost of attendance?
Information regarding the cost of attendance and tuition may be found on the Financial Aid section of each program's website (Full-time MBA/ Luxury and Retail MBA/ Andre Koo Tech MBA).

Can I take classes as a non-matriculated student?
Non-matriculated students cannot enroll in Stern MBA courses. However, NYU Stern offers non-credit, two- and three-day Short Courses on the latest management thinking and practices. The NYU School of Professional Studies also offers courses in a wide variety of subjects, such as Finance, Marketing, Management and E-Business.

Do you have an online program?
For students interested in the Langone Part-Time MBA program, the new Online/Modular option allows students to complete the entire program via a combination of online courses and in-person modules. This is not an online MBA, but rather a hybrid approach combining online learning with in-person courses taught on campus in NYC. Please visit the Online/Modular program page for more information. Additionally, NYU Stern offers an online MS in Quantitative Management (MSQM), as well as five online certificate programs. Please visit the MSQM and Online Certificates website for more information.

Are admissions officers available for appointments?
We are not able to offer one on one appointments with our admissions counselors at this time. However, we offer a tour and information session during the week. If you are interested in the Full-time MBA, Andre Koo Tech MBA or Luxury and Retail MBA, please check the Visit Stern section of our website for dates and times. These informal sessions last approximately 60-90 minutes and include a friendly on-campus tour led by current MBA students or a member of the Admissions Committee. The tours include detailed information about Stern's MBA programs, and allow plenty of time for questions and answers. You must register for the tour at least one day in advance. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register with building security and sign in with MBA Admissions (Suite 6-65). All visitors must present a valid photo ID to enter the building. Before confirming your travel plans, please also check below for office closings and information session cancellations.

Can I speak to an alum?
We encourage you to contact our current second-year MBA Graduate Ambassadors at mbaga@stern.nyu.edu to learn more about the Stern experience. Our alumni remain very engaged with Stern and meet with prospective students while attending our on-campus events and off-campus information sessions.
