Submit your final, official transcript(s)

To enroll at NYU Stern, you are required to submit a sealed, final, official transcript(s) from each academic institution where you’ve earned a degree (undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D., M.D., J.D., etc.) by your enrollment deadline

Final, official transcripts must come directly from the institution where you earned your degree. Final, official transcripts must be original documents bearing the institutional seal and signature of the institution's registrar. It must be submitted in the original, sealed envelope from the institution. Transcripts submitted during the application process are not considered official if uploaded to the online portal or not sealed.

Official transcript requirements

Your transcript is considered a final, official transcript only when the transcript provides all of the following information:

  • All courses taken and grades/marks earned
  • Name of degree awarded
  • Date of degree awarded

All transcripts must be accompanied by proof of degree conferral. In many cases, a copy of your diploma provides proof of degree conferral, but you should confirm with the institution attended.

The degree conferral must indicate the:

  • Type of degree conferred
  • Month and year the degree was conferred
  • Institution and location from which you received the degree

If this information is reflected on your transcript, then you do not need to provide additional degree conferral documentation, i.e. a diploma.

Request your final, official transcript electronically

We encourage you to request a secure electronic copy of your official transcript from your institution(s) and send it to our Executive MBA admissions office at executive@stern.nyu.edu. Electronic transcripts must be sent directly from your institution(s) to our office inbox to be considered final and official.

Request your final, official transcript via National Student Clearinghouse

If your former institution(s) uses the third-party service, National Student Clearinghouse, you can start the transcript request process here.

  • Step 1: Enter your personal information.
  • Step 2: Enter the recipient as:

  • Step 3: Once New York University is selected, a drop-down menu will appear with departments to select. Select Stern School of Business Executive MBA Programs.
  • Step 4: Select payment and start the request process.

If you have questions about our transcript requirements, please contact Dennis Green at dfg9629@stern.nyu.edu.

Requirements for transcripts not in English

If an original transcript is not in English, the applicant is required to submit both the official transcript and its English translation. Both the official transcript and the translation should be submitted in one sealed envelope. If the institution does not provide an English translation with the official transcript, a certified English translation must be obtained through a translating service and submitted in a sealed envelope, endorsed across the seal by the translating service.

If a diploma/degree conferral is not in English, the applicant is required to submit a photocopy of the original and its English translation, following the guidelines above for transcripts not in English.

NYU Stern does not have preferred translating services.

Important Notes about final, official transcript(s)

If you cannot obtain transcripts directly from your previous institution(s), but you possess an original transcript, you may submit photocopies to the Executive MBA Admissions team that have been verified by the embassy or consulate of the institution's country. Certifications by a Notary Public are not acceptable.

NYU Stern does not accept personal copies of transcripts. All transcripts submitted as part of the Executive MBA application process are considered property of Executive MBA Admissions. They will not be returned, transferred or forwarded to other institutions or other programs or schools at NYU. Please do not submit the original copy of an academic transcript that cannot be replaced. These transcripts will not be returned to you.

Your final, official transcripts will be verified. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission at any time, prior to or after enrolling, if there is any discrepancy between the unofficial transcript and the official transcript.
