Program Structure
Courses and Academics
How many courses can I take as part of an APC program?
An APC program is 15 credits, or typically five courses. Most courses are 3 credits, but some are 1.5 credits, so the total number of courses may vary.
Where and when are APC classes held?
APC students may take courses at NYU Stern’s Greenwich Village or Westchester locations. In Greenwich Village, courses are offered during the week (evening or daytime), on Saturdays and on some Sundays. In Westchester, courses are generally offered on weekday evenings. Weekday evening courses are typically 6:00-9:00 P.M., and Saturday courses are typically held from 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. and from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M.
May I apply to start in the summer?
We accept applications for Fall and Spring start only.
Is there a cap on how many courses I can take at once?
The APC program is considered part-time study. APC students may take a maximum of nine credits (typically three courses) per term.
Am I able to take one course but not do a full certificate program?
Students must be admitted to and enrolled in an APC or degree program to take courses at Stern.
How long do I have to complete the APC?
All APC programs must be completed within two years from the start term. For example, students entering the program in Fall 2015 must complete APC coursework by Fall 2017.
How quickly could I complete an APC?
Students may take a maximum of nine credits per term, so an APC could be earned in as few as two semesters.
Can I take courses outside of Stern?
No, only Stern courses count toward an APC program.
Can I transfer to the MBA program?
APC students may apply to the Langone Part-time MBA program after completing at least one APC course and before completing the entire APC. In order to be considered for the Langone Part-time MBA program, all APC students, including those who already hold an MBA, must complete all application requirements and have a valid GMAT or GRE score upon applying. If admitted, students may use APC credits toward the 60-credit Part-time MBA. Given the block/cohort structure of the Full-time and Executive MBA programs, it is not possible to use APC credits in these programs. Please note that after an APC is earned, graduates cannot use APC credits toward the MBA.
