William J. Baumol (1922-2017)
As the Harold Price Professor of Entrepreneurship and academic director of the Stern School’s Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship, Will Baumol did pioneering research on productivity, competition, entrepreneurship, environmental policy, corporate finance, and the economics of the arts. Among his many honors and awards, Professor Baumol was a Fellow of the Econometric Society, a past President of the American Economic Association, and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Economic Association. Prior to joining NYU, he was a long-time Professor of Economics at Princeton University. • New York Times obituary
