Why did you decide to pursue the focused one-year MBA program?

I always knew I wanted to pursue an MBA, but with my business background, I sought a program that would truly add value and help me develop new skills. I looked into programs that would accelerate my growth in Product Management while improving my technical skills. During my research, I discovered Stern's Tech MBA, and it felt like the perfect fit. The combination of technical courses, hands-on experiential learning, and the opportunity to re-enter the workforce in just one year made the program incredibly appealing.

How did you find a sense of community and support within Stern?

Over the summer, the focused cohorts were put through an intensive session of core business courses such as Finance, Strategy, and Accounting. Since we were the only ones on campus taking all of these core courses together, we immediately bonded. I can confidently say that all 57 of us are best friends and I can rely on them for a good time and for classwork, recruitment opportunities, study sessions—pretty much anything you can think of.

Outside the cohort, I've found a sense of community through admissions, clubs, and career services. Everyone at Stern—from the professors, faculty, and students— wants to see me succeed and achieve my career goals.

How would you describe the culture and community within your class?

Supportive, friendly, and enthusiastic. Everyone in my class is not only super eager to learn but also eager to teach and grow others. Whether it’s homework questions or recommending a good lunch spot, the class is here to help.

What was your favorite class at Stern?

Professor Pettit's Leadership core course taught me a lot about myself. From my learning style to my interactions with others, I definitely saw myself grow. The course took us out of our comfort zones with projects and challenges that are hard to find in a corporate work environment and can only really be done in a classroom setting. I wish I could take this class every semester.

What has been a highlight of your Stern experience?

There are a number of opportunities here to build a fantastic network of ambitious, driven, and intelligent individuals. While at Stern, I had the opportunity to connect with a professor from one of my dream companies. We grabbed coffee in Washington Square Park and bonded over our shared work background. The building (quite literally) has opportunities waiting around every corner.

Why did you choose NYU Stern?

Like many others, (and as cheesy as it might sound) NYU Stern was a dream school of mine. While it offered the specific MBA program I was looking for, Stern was always at the forefront of my mind during my application process. With the amazing location, top-tier education, and impressive post-grad employment stats, it was hard to say no to such an incredible opportunity.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

Candidly speaking, take the time to assess if an MBA aligns with your current career goals, and specifically if it's the right type of MBA program for you. Whether you're looking to switch industries or functions, or fast-track your career, key factors like the quality of education, location, type of program, and networking opportunities should all play a role in your decision.

How has Stern’s location in NYC impacted your experience?

The city's constant influx of people from all walks of life adds to the richness of the experience.
