Why did you decide to pursue the focused one-year MBA program?
After several years in Venture Capital, I developed a passion for tech and knew I wanted to transition into a more hands-on role within the industry. The one-year Tech MBA allowed me to build on my existing knowledge, deepen my business skills, develop new technical skills, and explore different tech areas. The fast-paced format was ideal for accelerating my career shift without a long break from the workforce. It has been the perfect bridge between my tech investing background and my future goals.
How did you find a sense of community and support within Stern?
I could not have imagined how strong the sense of community at Stern would be. From faculty members and professors, to the alumni network, professional and social student organizations, and my peers in the Tech MBA and other programs, everyone is genuinely open and eager to support one another. Whether it happens through informal conversations, coffee chats, workshops, or mentoring, you can always find the right person for guidance or support. I feel like I’ve become part of a larger family that will continue to be part of my life after graduation.
How would you describe the culture and community within your class?
What I like about my Tech MBA class is the unique blend of technical and business experience, with people coming from all over the world, each bringing their unique perspective. This makes our class environment intellectually stimulating. The Tech MBA is a smaller cohort than the 2-year MBA, and spending the entire summer together in the same classes helped us build a strong and cohesive bond early on.
What has been your favorite class at Stern?
My favorite class at Stern has been Tech Solutions, part of the experiential learning track and a required component of the Tech MBA program. The course pairs students with established technology companies to design, build, and launch technological solutions. I had the opportunity to partner with IBM to work on a strategic project within one of the organizational units. This hands-on experience will provide me insights into the challenges of driving innovation in large organizations.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Before applying, I questioned whether the timing was right, but now, halfway through the program, I can confidently say it’s one of the most important decisions I’ve ever made. For those still on the fence, if the MBA path is for you, don’t let fear or uncertainty hold you back from a potentially life-changing opportunity. If you’re convinced this is the right program, being authentic and reflecting on what makes you unique is crucial. Most importantly, enjoy the application process—it will push you to rethink your positioning and focus on what truly matters.
How has Stern’s location in NYC impacted your experience?
New York is a city like no other, and being in the heart of Manhattan has been a true advantage. The proximity to leading companies has provided direct access to industry leaders, exclusive events, and invaluable networking opportunities. The city's rich culture—from its arts and music to its diverse food scene—has also greatly enhanced my personal experience beyond academics. Meeting people from all around the world has broadened my perspective in ways I never expected. In every sense, NYC has been the ultimate classroom.
