Why did you decide to pursue the focused one-year MBA program?

I loved the idea of an immersive, fast-paced program. One year out of work felt just right, and the experiential opportunities suited my hands-on style to learning. Plus, being in the thick of NYC’s tech scene was a huge draw.

How did you find a sense of community and support within Stern?

With fewer than 60 of us in the Tech MBA, and the campus all to ourselves during the intensive summer semester, we built a strong sense of community right from the start.

How would you describe the culture and community within your class?

It’s super collaborative. Everyone brings something unique to the table, and we help each other out with everything—whether it’s finding jobs, class assignments, learning how to code or figuring out life (like housing or even a trip to the emergency room). We also know how to have fun with weekly happy hours, road trips, and overseas adventures.

What has been your favorite class at Stern?

Finance with Anjolein Schmeits was tough, but totally worth it. She really broke things down for us and gave personalized feedback. Anjolein also came to happy hour with us after the final exam, earning her major bonus points in my books.

What has been a highlight of your Stern experience?

Without a doubt, the highlight has been building an incredible community here in New York. I’ve met lifelong friends, supportive professors and inspiring alumni.

Why did you choose NYU Stern?

As I considered MBA programs, the people I spoke to from Stern really stood out. I could easily see myself collaborating and working with these people and the culture and focus on community at NYU really appealed to me.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

Let your unique personality and interests shine through in the application and interview. The cohort is an interesting mix of people from all backgrounds - it is important to show how your unique background will contribute to the cohort.

How has Stern’s location in NYC impacted your experience?

NYC has been a game-changer for my MBA experience. We’re frequently running around the city for site visits, networking events and lunches and dinners out with classmates. It’s amazing how easy it is to grab lunch at Google with an alumni or coffee with someone from a VC in between classes and then drop into the Comedy Cellar with some classmates at the end of the day.
