In a co-authored op-ed, MBA student and military veteran Bryan Coughlin addresses gender bias within the military

War on the Rocks logo
Excerpt from War on the Rocks -- "As leaders in the military, it is our responsibility to ensure a more lethal fighting force in the future. Last week, two women graduated from the Army’s grueling Ranger School for the first time. Before this milestone event, institutional bias in the U.S. Army reinforced an assumption that women would simply never be capable of completing its most challenging small unit leadership course. Captain Griest and Lieutenant Haver’s graduation not only repudiates this assumption, it also demonstrates that there is still much talent within the ranks that remains to be harnessed."

Assistant Dean Isser Gallogly highlights Stern's Summer Start option for MBA students

Wall Street Journal logo
Excerpt from The Wall Street Journal -- "NYU Stern allows some first-years to begin M.B.A. coursework in July, as a way for students to lighten their course loads for the academic year. While the majority of the school’s Summer Start students are selected by program administrators for their leadership potential or because they might benefit from an early start, NYU holds a few spots for additional students who wish to opt in, said Isser Gallogly, assistant dean of M.B.A. admissions. He said the school has seen more requests for those spots, which carry an additional fee of around $2,500, in recent years. The 60 to 65 summer students 'get to know each other quite well,' and form close ties, Mr. Gallogly said. Come fall, administrators spread them among the six cohort blocks of the M.B.A. class, where they act as 'connectors,' he said."

Assistant Dean Isser Gallogly shares insights on Stern's MBA programs and the admissions process

mbaMission logo
Excerpt from mbaMission -- "'First and foremost, I think people regard us as one of the elite business schools with our reputation as an exceptional academic institution. I think the second point, and it’s in our name, of course, is New York—and not just that we’re in New York, a capital of world business, but how we leverage the city as an extension of our classroom. I think the fact that people gain incredible access to experts in industry coming into our classrooms, in addition to real-world learning taking place outside of the classroom, in the business community directly—these benefits are huge advantages. And the third is our diversity of offerings. No matter what industry or function, we occupy that space, and just like the diversity of the city itself, the way we approach business and management is very diverse.'"
