Excerpt from Poets & Quants -- "He developed and leads NYU Stern’s Business, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (BTE) program, a new type of undergraduate degree. One of BTE’s defining features is a first-year experiential learning experience with a Design Sprint and Data Sprint where students learn by engaging with companies on real challenges. He also developed and teaches NYC Entrepreneurship Lab, an experiential class pairing students with startups."

A sampling of media highlights for the week of November 29, 2022

A member of the Eurogroup, which coordinates Euro area economic policies, and of the Economic and Financial Council (ECOFIN) bringing together the economy and finance ministers of EU member states, Yuriko Backes, Luxembourg’s first female finance minister, will provide insights into the European Union’s response to the key challenges of our time – from the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis to climate change and rising geopolitical tensions – and how the EU is fundamentally being (re)shaped by its collective response to these crises.

A sampling of media highlights for the week of November 22, 2022

Today New York University Stern School of Business announced breaking news: its one-year Andre Koo Technology and Entrepreneurship MBA will shift to a test-optional policy for the current admissions cycle. Candidates applying to enroll in the May 2023 incoming cohort will not be required to submit a standardized test score regardless of their employment status.

James Bessen, an economist and technologist, serves as Executive Director of the Technology & Policy Research Initiative at Boston University. He has also been a successful innovator and CEO of a software company. Bessen studies the major economic impacts of technology on society (see New York Times profile), writing academic papers, magazine articles, and books. His latest book, The New Goliaths (Yale 2022), argues that major firms’ investments in proprietary software systems have allowed them to increase their dominance of industries, slowing aggregate innovation and raising income inequality.

Excerpt from Poets & Quants -- "Even as gender parity continues to be an elusive goal for the majority of MBA programs, here, now, is an MBA that has enrolled more women than men – and in tech no less. For the Class of 2023, Stern’s tech MBA is 55% women, up from the 42% it enrolled for its inaugural class.
 
Meanwhile, it’s achieved 100% employment for 2 out of 3 of its graduating classes."

Excerpt from Clear Admit -- "Stern made the transition easier than I could have imagined through the Fertitta Veterans Program, named for alumnus Lorenzo Fertitta (MBA ’93) and his brother Frank J. Fertitta III thanks to their transformative gift to Stern. This Program allows first-year Veterans to start in July, where they take core classes while receiving tailored career coaching and early networking opportunities with target firms from various industries. This early start allowed me to feel confident and well prepared when the rest of my class arrived on campus for LAUNCH (Stern’s full-time MBA orientation), and consulting recruiting which kicked off a few weeks later. Reflecting on my transition, Stern is the best decision I could have made, not only because it has allowed me to achieve my career goals, but also because I know that when I graduate in May 2023, I will do so with a group of lifelong friends."

A sampling of media highlights for the week of November 8, 2022

The competition will hold a virtual kickoff event at 4pm on Tuesday, November 8th and take place on campus from 11AM to 4PM ET on Friday, November 11th.

Excerpt from Find MBA -- "It is much the same at NYU Stern School of Business in New York, where the full-time MBA class of 2022 achieved record-high employment outcomes, including the highest ever median base salary and mean total compensation, and job acceptance rates in line with pre-pandemic levels."
