On January 16, 2020, for the first time ever, a group of alumni from NYU Stern's Executive MBA Program and their guests traveled to Bogotá, Colombia, for a three-day immersive Global Study Tour (GST3). As part of Stern’s EMBA program, students embark on a Global Study Tour (GST) -- a one-week international residency -- in the first year of the program and have the option to travel on another GST during the second year of the program. This inaugural GST3 enabled alumni of the program to continue their lifelong learning with Stern.
GST3 participants connected with fellow Stern alumni and were joined by Professor Robert Salomon, Vice Dean of Executive Programs, and Professor Naomi Diamant, Assistant Dean of Executive Programs and Academic Director of EMBA Programs. Over the three days, alumni got an in-depth look into Bogotá’s business landscape through presentations by Professor Salomon, as well as meetings with officials from government agencies including the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Colombia Productiva, Invest in Bogotá, and ProColombia, as well as executives from the Colombian Football Federation, LATAM Airlines and Duff & Phelps. Alumni also had the opportunity to participate in a sightseeing tour and network at a cocktail reception with current EMBA students who were on their program’s GST in Bogotá.
Global Study Tours provide Executive MBA students and alumni with an opportunity to engage themselves culturally and intellectually in destinations across the world, including Latin America, the Middle East, Asia and beyond, where they participate in meetings and in-depth discussions with leaders of industry, financial institutions and government organizations.
