Shifting the Investment Paradigm Discussion
—
We believe that focusing on sustainability is simply a better way to do business.
On Wednesday, March 8, NYU Stern’s Center for Business and Human Rights welcomed Renee Beaumont, partner at Generation Investment Management, for an event entitled “Shifting the Investment Paradigm.” The discussion, which was moderated by Professor Michael Posner, centered around the topic of the changing investment landscape and focused on sustainable long-term investing to create profit for shareholders.
Beaumont provided an overview of the foundation and evolution of Generation, which began in 2004, and explained the team’s sustainability-driven approach to investing. “Sustainability investing takes a long-term view,” explained Beaumont. “We look across industries to find products or services that can create value. We believe that focusing on sustainability is simply a better way to do business.”
Beaumont, who began her career in law, also shared details on her transition into the financial sector, citing a desire to follow her passion. “I felt like I learned something new every day and worked with the most incredible people,” she said on her first job at Goldman Sachs.
