NYU Stern Hosts Panel Discussion on Europe’s Economic and Financial Future

On Thursday, October 11, 2012, NYU Stern co-hosted, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, a panel discussion on Europe’s Economic and Financial Future with Commissioner Janusz Lewandowski, Member of the European Commission, Financial Programming and Budget. Other speakers included Stern faculty: Viral Acharya, C.V. Starr Professor of Finance, Edward Altman, Max L. Heine Professor of Finance, Marcin Kacperczyk, Assistant Professor of Finance, and Richard Sylla, Henry Kaufman Professor of the History of Financial Institutions and Markets and Professor of Economics.
Stern Professor Richard Sylla welcomed the audience.
Stern Professor Edward Altman presented,”The Survival of the Euro: It is Still up To Italy.”
The welcome presentations were followed by a panel discussion moderated by Stern Professor Marcin Kacperczyk (far right) and included: (from left to right): Markus Brunnermeier, Edwards S. Sanford Professor of Economics, Princeton University; Janusz Lewandowski, Member of the European Commission, Financial Planning and Budget; Stern Professor Viral Acharya; and Henryka Bochniarz, President of the Confederation of Polish Employers.
