NYU Stern is refreshing its one-of-a-kind one-year MBA in luxury, including three new unique initiatives to further embed students in the industry.

Based on in-depth conversations with leaders in the luxury and retail sectors, including Stern alumni, the School is also renaming the program the NYU Stern Luxury & Retail MBA (formerly the Fashion & Luxury MBA). This name more accurately reflects the educational experience Stern already delivers in the program, now in its sixth year, and the breadth of industry employers, ranging from apparel, fashion accessories, beauty, big box retail, fine wine and spirits, high-end automotive, real estate, and more, who seek, and hire, Stern students.

Luxury & Retail students, alumni, and top-tier brand partners will also build mutually beneficial relationships via three new initiatives:

  • Luxury & Retail Alumni in Residence - students will gain exclusive one-on-one access to Stern alumni industry “insiders” (19 alumni participants signed to date)
  • Luxury & Retail Council - senior executives from companies such as L'Oréal, Westfield World Trade Center, and Google will mentor students to help develop the next generation of talent
  • Luxury & Retail Partners - top-tier brands worldwide, such as founding partners L'Oréal, Ferragamo, Tivoli Group, St. John Knits, Spring Studios, Matouk, and Simon Pearce, will sponsor immersive experiential projects and gain early access to Stern MBA talent

According to Professor Thomaï Serdari, Academic Director, Luxury & Retail MBA Program, “Employers have a demand for MBA graduates who bring skills to commercialize their businesses as they navigate modern-day challenges and disruptions. In other words, they seek out MBA talent that excels at the intersection of business and technology and who are fluent in retail. This is exactly the type of educational experience we deliver in our one-year immersive MBA program, and we’re the only U.S. business school with a dedicated MBA in luxury and retail.”
