NYU Stern MBAs Get Immersed with Global Luxury and Retail Brands in Italy
Class of 2025 students in NYU Stern’s one-year MBA program focused on luxury and retail kicked off January by traveling to Florence, Italy for an intensive three-credit course designed to immerse students in one of the leading European hubs in retail and luxury. Throughout the week, students got an up-close look at how global retail, luxury, and fashion businesses operate, from a tour and tasting at Antinori’s famous winery to visiting the Tivoli Group and learning about their leather goods supply chain, among other experiences.
This immersion is a required experiential learning course in this specialized MBA and was led by Professor Thomaï Serdari, the Program’s Academic Director.
Onsite in Florence, students interacted directly with industry leaders and toured historic sites and factories of many notable Italian luxury brands, including Antico Setificio Fiorentino, Antinori Winery, Benetti, Ditta Artigianle, Ferragamo, Leo France, Manteco, Officine Gullo, and, Tivoli Group, and more.
Stern students were also able to meet and chat with alumnus James Ferragamo (BA ’93, MBA ’97), Chief Transformation & Sustainability Officer at Ferragamo.
And as a part of the trip, students participated in a Stern Solutions experiential learning project with luxury kitchen manufacturer Officine Gullo. Stern students worked with consumer profiles to reinforce its new business line of kitchenware in America.
