The annual SPHA Healthcare Summit will provide an opportunity for students and professionals to learn about careers in the life sciences and healthcare industry including positions with healthcare providers, pharmaceuticals, investment banks and consulting firms. The event will touch on a variety of current topics including discussions of the changing state of the US healthcare industry. There will also be over an hour of networking with industry professionals, recruiters and professors.

The largest academic conference of its kind, in terms of research paper submissions, NYU Stern’s Ninth Annual Conference on Social Entrepreneurship, organized by the School’s Business & Society Program Area and the Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, convened scholars from around the world, as well as practitioners and students, to explore topics in social enterprise, innovation, sustainability and impact.

On Wednesday, November 7, NYU Stern and L2 held the fourth annual Innovation Forum in New York City. Speakers from industry and academia presented to a sold-out audience on topics such as social contagion, stock picking and the Digital IQ and America’s political division.

On Friday, October 26, NYU Stern's Luxury and Retail club will host J. Crew CEO Millard (Mickey) Drexler, the man who transformed the world of retail at the helm of some of the most iconic American fashion brands.

Jes Staley, CEO of J.P. Morgan Investment Bank, and other industry leaders will discuss topics including challenges facing the industry, the relationship between policy and the capital markets, and how to build a career in financial services.

Sharon L. Allen, former chairman of the board of Deloitte LLP (2003-2011) sat down with Thomas Pugel, vice dean for MBA and executive programs and professor of economics and global business, and more than 100 MBA students in NYU Stern’s Leadership Luncheon Series. Coordinated by the School’s Leadership Development Team, the event series gives students an opportunity to hear from senior executives in industry on the challenges and lessons learned of being a leader.

NYU Stern alumni and students filled Paulson Auditorium on October 15 to hear Professor William Silber discuss his newly published biography of Paul Volcker, “Volcker: The Triumph of Persistence.”

On October 15, 2012, NYU Stern's Development and Alumni Relations Office and the Center for Global Economy and Business will host a discussion of Professor William Silber's book, "VOLCKER: The Triumph of Persistence.

The 27th Annual AHBBS Conference, hosted by the NYU Stern Association of Hispanic & Black Business Students (AHBBS) is themed, “Leadership Through Innovation: Creating a Career of Opportunity and Choice.”

A conference jointly sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the NYU Stern Salomon Center.  This conference aims to promote a better understanding of the role of private equity in the US economy, including real economic effects of private equity transactions and economic welfare implications.

On Thursday, October 11, 2012, NYU Stern co-hosted, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, a panel discussion on Europe’s Economic and Financial Future with Commissioner Janusz Lewandowski, Member of the European Commission, Financial Programming and Budget.

Three teams of MBA students went head-to-head, pitching their ideas for future business endeavors in the finals of Amazon’s Innovation Competition. Student teams competed for prizes ranging from a Kindle Fire to a job interview at Amazon’s Seattle headquarters by writing proposals that answer the question, “If I were at Amazon I would totally …”

Hosted by EEX, the competition gives MBA2 student teams three weeks to create an actionable product or service for Amazon. Written submissions will be reviewed by Amazon management, and finalists will pitch their ideas to Amazon executives at an on-campus event on Friday, October 5.

On October 5, the Luxury & Retail Club will host their sixth annual conference, themed, "Knowing the New Consumer: Retail’s Response to Changing Demographics." Featured speakers include Jean-Marc Plisson, CEO, Fresh; Farooq Kathwari, CEO, Ethan Allen; Jeffry Aronsson, CEO, Aronsson Group and former CEO, Oscar de la Renta, DKNY and Marc Jacobs; Jennifer Hyman, CEO and Co-Founder, Rent the Runway; and Deborah McWhinney, COO, Citi Global Enterprise Payments.

As part of NYU Stern’s Block Lunch event series, hosted by Dean Peter Henry, former chairman of the Republican National Committee Ken Mehlman, head of Global Public Affairs at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., engaged with more than 100 MBA students. Based on his experience in politics and, more recently, private equity, he shared some professional advice.

The conference brought together marketing leaders and top academics to explore the increasingly complex path-to-purchase, and the customer experience at the pre-purchase, at-purchase and post-purchase phases. Participants connected to learn best practices along the path-to-purchase in measurement, digital, social and mobile, and heard from the experts who are driving the new consumer journey. Steve Frenda, Path to Purchase Institute, and Jeff Swearingen, Frito-Lay, delivered keynote talks.

WIN is a Social Networks Summit intended to foster collaboration and to build community.  The purpose of WIN is to bring together leading researchers studying ‘information in networks’ – its distribution, its diffusion, its value, and its influence on social and economic outcomes – in order to lay the foundation for ongoing relationships and to build a lasting multidisciplinary research community.

On September 28th-29th 2012, the NYU C.V. Starr Center for Applied Economics will host a conference to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the publication of Professor William Baumol’s seminal paper “The transactions demand for cash: an inventory theoretic approach."

Maddy deLone, Executive Director of the Innocence Project, Paul Cates, Communications Director of the Innocence Project, and Alan Newton, Exoneree, will share their experiences and vision for the competition. In addition, the ProMotion Pictures board will discuss competition rules and timelines. Reception with light refreshments to follow where attendees are encourages to meet prospective teammates and to share competition ideas. This event is only open to NYU Stern, Tisch Film and ITP students and faculty.

More than 450 aspiring entrepreneurs from NYU’s student, alumni and faculty communities gathered in Paulson Auditorium to hear about this year’s Entrepreneurs Challenge. During the official Kick-Off, attendees received information about NYU Stern’s 14th Annual New Venture Competition and 10th Annual Social Venture Competition – both sponsored by Stern’s Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation – and NYU’s 3rd Annual Technology Venture Competition, hosted by Stern’s Berkley Center and NYU’s Innovation Venture Fund.

As part of the Himelberg Speaker Series, Brad Feld, co-founder of TechStars, a mentor-driven start-up accelerator program, addressed a packed Cantor Boardroom at NYU Stern. An early stage investor and entrepreneur for more than 25 years, Feld shared several pieces of advice with Stern’s entrepreneurial community.
