Andre J.L. Koo Lobby Dedication Ceremony
—
Dean Henry and Members of Stern’s Leadership Honored Alumnus Andre J.L. Koo in a Special Lobby Dedication Ceremony.
The Stern School honored Andre J.L. Koo (MBA 1994), Chairman, Chailease Group, today for his generous contributions to Stern at the dedication of the Andre J.L. Koo Lobby in the Henry Kaufman Management Center. Dean Peter Henry, along with NYU Trustees, members of the Stern Board of Overseers, Dean Geeta Menon, faculty members and student scholarship recipients, celebrated Koo and his family’s commitment to the School, including a gift that helped transform the Andre J.L. Koo lobby into an environment that highlights what makes Stern special.
“We have the privilege of honoring the Koo family today, especially their legacy, and their deep commitment to Stern and the University,” remarked Dean Henry. “Their commitment could not be more apparent than Andre’s gift to transform the lobby which has become a place that embodies the best values of the Stern community and a hub of student engagement.”
The lobby includes a number of technology screens used to illustrate the intellectual inquiry of Stern, as well as additional seating areas that invite collaboration and conversation between students, faculty and visitors who pass through Stern each day.
“To me, higher education empowers people with abilities to improve their lives as well as extend their influence to help other human beings,” shared Andre J.L. Koo. “It is a great honor to be here today with my family and to support a Stern education.”
The Koo family has longstanding ties to the Stern School. Andre J.L. Koo is the son of Stern graduate, the late Dr. Jeffrey Koo (MBA 1962), and the father of current Stern undergraduate student Andre Koo, Jr. (BS 2018). Andre J.L. Koo serves on the NYU Board of Trustees and NYU Stern Board of Overseers, is a member of the President’s Global Council, and played a key role in establishing the NYU Pan-Asia Alumni Association, where he served as its president.
