The Government of India has appointed Professor Viral Acharya as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), where he will be in charge of monetary policy, foreign exchange and market operations, as well as research and statistics. Additionally, the Bank for International Settlements has appointed Professor Acharya as its 2017 Alexandre Lamfalussy Senior Research Fellow.
The American Marketing Association Foundation recently recognized Professor Alixandra Barasch as an honorable mention recipient of the 2016 John A. Howard/AMA Doctoral Dissertation Award.
The 2017 Forbes list of "30 Under 30 in Science," which recognizes leading change-makers and innovators across the US, featured Professor Xi Chen for his work on machine learning and data science with applications for business, medicine and more.
Professors Sonia Marciano and Glenn Okun were voted “Great Professors” by the Executive MBA class of January 2017.
The American Finance Association awarded Professor Johannes Stroebel first place in the 2016 Brattle Group Prize, an annual honor which recognizes the top corporate finance paper published in the Journal of Finance.
NYU Stern scholars were honored with Best Paper awards at the 2016 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Dublin, including:
Professor Natalia Levina received a “Best Publication of 2015” award, which recognizes best journal publications in the Information Systems field, for her work, “Speaking as One, but Not Speaking Up: Dealing with New Moral Taint in an Occupational Online Community.”
PhD student Apostolos Filippas received the Best Paper award in the Crowdsourcing, Crowdfunding, Blockchain and the Sharing Economy track for his work, “A Model of Pricing in the Sharing Economy: Pricing Dynamics with Awareness-Generating Adoptions.”
