Gygmy E.J. Gonnot

Biography

Gygmy Gonnot has been an Adjunct Professor of Finance at NYU Stern since 2012, teaching Alternative Investments - Principles & Strategies. With over two decades of experience in asset management, alternative investments, and fintech, he brings a unique blend of industry expertise and academic insight to the classroom.

Professor Gonnot is a Managing Director at Focus Investment Group (FIG), a Fund of Hedge Funds, where he leads portfolio and risk management, investment due diligence, and fund allocation. He has overseen multi-strategy and sector-specific portfolios, managing assets across hedge funds, private markets, and direct investments. His expertise spans a wide range of investment strategies in liquid alternatives and private markets.

In addition to his work at FIG, Professor Gonnot is a Managing Director at Vidrio Financial, a fintech SaaS investment platform specializing in alternative investments, data management and analytics. He leads advisory services for large asset allocators, integrating AI-driven solutions to enhance portfolio monitoring, risk management, and due diligence.

At NYU Stern, Professor Gonnot is deeply involved in bridging the gap between academia and industry. He is strongly committed to mentoring students both during their time at Stern and beyond, guiding them as they navigate their careers in the alternative investment industry.

Professor Gonnot holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from IDRAC Lyon. Fluent in French, he also has working proficiency in German and Spanish. Outside of finance, he is an avid road cyclist, competitive ping-pong player, and global traveler.
