Admissions Policies

Additional Submissions by Waitlisted Applicants
The Admissions Committee reserves the right to make final decisions on waitlisted applications prior to receiving additional information. Materials received after a final decision will not affect that decision.

Application Fee
The application fee is $250 for the Full-Time and Focused MBA programs. You will be prompted to pay the application fee after you submit your application. Your application will not be processed until we receive the application fee. The application is non-refundable and may not be applied to any future applications at NYU Stern or other NYU programs.

Application Fee Waivers
U.S. military members or U.S. veterans who have served active duty, Teach for America and Teach for India program alumni, and Forté MBALaunch alumni are eligible for application fee waivers. Prior to submitting your application, please submit the Application Fee Waiver Request Form for application fee waiver consideration. The Admissions Committee will review these requests within 5 business days. Please plan ahead and allow ample time prior to submitting your application, especially during high-volume times around the application deadlines.

If you are experiencing economic challenges and would like to request an application fee waiver, please submit the Application Fee Waiver Request Form. Requests should include a rationale for the application fee waiver and will be considered by the Admissions Committee on a case-by-case basis.

Once an application fee is paid by an applicant, it is non-refundable. Please be sure to fill out the request form prior to paying your application fee if you wish to be considered for a waiver.

Applying Prior to Completing your Undergraduate Degree
If you submit your application prior to the conferral of your bachelor's degree or equivalent, we will accept and evaluate your application. This will not delay the evaluation of your application. If an offer of admission is made, it will be contingent upon graduating from your undergraduate program prior to the first day of class. An undergraduate degree is required to enroll in the MBA program.

Applying to Multiple Programs within the Same Admissions Cycle
Applicants may only have one active application within the 2024-25 admissions cycle (Summer and Fall terms for 2025). If you are not offered admission or withdraw your application during this 2024-25 cycle, you may request to re-apply in this 2024-25 cycle for the same program with a different start date or you may request to apply to a different program. Requests must be sent to admchair@stern.nyu.edu and your request must be approved before you begin your new application.

Please note the start terms for each program below:

Full-time MBA - Fall 2025
Langone Part-time MBA - Spring 2025 and Fall 2025
MBA Business: Luxury & Retail - Summer 2025
Andre Koo Tech MBA - Summer 2025
Executive MBA - 2024-2025
TRIUM Global Executive MBA - 2024-2025

Change of Contact Information
The Admissions Committee communicates with applicants primarily through email. It is the applicant’s responsibility to update NYU Stern immediately with a new email address. Changes to your email should be made on the application status page. Failure to update your email may result in you missing key information, which could jeopardize your admission and/or place in the class.

NYU Stern is not responsible for any technological issues (including email filters, etc.) that prevent applicants from receiving our communications.

Changing Status after Enrollment: Part-time to Full-time
Stern MBA Academic Affairs does not permit students to switch to a full-time program once they are enrolled in the part-time program or to move from one full-time program to another Full-time program. Please carefully consider which program is best suited to your goals prior to applying.

Citizenship Status: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
By checking you are a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, you are attesting that you are in fact a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States by the definition of US Citizenship and Immigration Services at the time you submit your application. (A Permanent Resident or Lawful Permanent Resident is any person not a citizen of the United States who is living in the US under legally recognized and lawful recorded permanent residence as an immigrant.  Also known as "permanent resident alien," "resident alien permit holder," and "Green Card Holder.") If you have applied for but have not yet been approved as a US Permanent Resident, you must apply as an international student and provide an explanation in the optional essay. Should your citizenship or permanent resident status change prior to enrolling at NYU Stern, it is your responsibility to update the Admissions Committee.

Deferred Admission/Leave of Absence
NYU Stern does not grant admission deferrals. If you are admitted and decide not to enroll, you may re-apply for a future term. In rare cases, NYU Stern may admit applicants early to a subsequent term. Leaves of absence are not granted to students who find that they cannot begin the program in the semester for which they were admitted or who cannot successfully complete one course in that first semester (obtaining a grade of C+ or better). All other Academic Affairs and Advising Policies apply.

Enrollment Deposit
After admission, a non-refundable enrollment deposit is required to secure your place in NYU Stern's MBA program. For some programs, a second enrollment deposit may also be required. Enrollment deposits will not be refunded for any reason.

Final Decisions
The Admissions Committee reserves the right to release a decision at any time during the application process. All admissions decisions are final.

Mailing Instructions for Supplemental Application Materials
Please send any supplemental materials, such as sealed EQ Endorsements (if you received prior approval from NYU Stern MBA Admissions to submit by mail) in a labeled envelope or package to the address below:

NYU + MBA Standardized Test Waiver
To be considered for admission through the NYU + MBA program, navigate to the Program Preference page in your Stern MBA application, and check off the box under statements of interest that indicates the following:
I hold an undergraduate degree from New York University with a final cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher and am eligible to apply under the NYU + MBA application process.  I have reviewed the eligibility requirements on the website.

If you check this box and meet the eligibility criteria, the Admissions Committee will waive the standardized test requirement for your application. If you have standardized test scores, we encourage you to submit your test scores even if you are eligible and qualify for the waiver. We will only consider your standardized test scores for admission if it aids your candidacy.

Official Transcripts for Enrolling Students
Admitted students are required to provide an official copy of all academic transcripts and proof of their degree conferral prior to enrollment. Failure to provide official transcripts and proof of degree conferral by the deadline given will result in your admission offer expiring.

Re-Application
Reapplicants may submit an abbreviated application to Full-time MBA or Focused MBAs if they have applied to any of these three programs in the last two application cycles, e.g. the 2023 and 2024 application cycles.

The Admissions Committee will consider requests for a standardized test waiver on a case by case basis. Those who provide strong examples of academic readiness (eg: strong analytical or quantitative undergraduate or graduate majors, professional work experience, certifications etc.) may be more likely to receive a standardized test waiver. For more information and to submit a request, please refer to our standardized test page

Program Policies

Full-time Program and Employment
The Two Year MBA and One Year Focused MBA programs are demanding full-time programs. As such, it is not possible to work full time while enrolled. While students may be able to have some limited part time employment or short duration internships while in the program, class schedules and other required program elements cannot be adjusted to accommodate such activities. The most common form of employment during the program would be working as a Teaching Fellow or Graduate Assistant.

Mandatory Orientation
Full-time MBA Requirements:
Successful completion of our orientation in its entirety is a prerequisite for enrollment into the Full-time MBA program. Therefore, attendance for the entire schedule of orientation is mandatory. Orientation dates for 2025 are to be determined.

Focused MBA Requirements:
Successful completion of orientation in its entirety is a prerequisite for enrollment into the MBA Business: Luxury & Retail and Andre Koo Tech MBA programs. Therefore, attendance for the entire schedule of orientation is mandatory. The 2025 dates are to be determined.

Dual Degree Programs
Focused MBA, Consortium Fellows, Fertitta Veterans program students, and Part-time MBA students cannot pursue dual degree programs.

Transferring Credits
NYU Stern does not accept transfer credits.
