There is an ever-expanding need for practicing dentists to fully understand the business side of health care, whether in solo practice or corporate owned offices.
The DDS/MBA program represents a partnership between the NYU College of Dentistry and NYU Stern School of Business. In today’s healthcare environment there’s an increasing demand on dentists to manage both patient care and the business of dentistry. DDS/MBA graduates will be equipped with a business lens that enables them to excel in this setting.
While the DDS and MBA degrees typically require six years of study when pursued independently, the dual degree program takes only five years. The first two years are spent at the College of Dentistry, and they last three years are divided between the College of Dentistry and Stern.
Program Structure
Students enrolled in the dual DDS/MBA program begin at NYU College of Dentistry on a full-time basis for the first two years. During the third calendar year, students take core MBA courses while continuing to hone their clinical skills eight hours a week at the College of Dentistry. During the fourth and fifth calendar years, the College of Dentistry remains their home as they take their remaining DDS and MBA courses within a flexible format that allows them to move clinical practice time when needed and take business courses when offered.
Admission to the DDS/MBA Program
Only enrolled students in the NYU DDS program are eligible to apply for the dual degree. Students for the dual degree program are selected and nominated by the Dental School. There will be a limit of five dual degree students for the first year of the program. Dual degree applicants will not be required to take the GMAT or GRE.
